Aren't they lovely?

Our tea cupboard and my blue panic attack mugs.

The Nascar Automobile is actually made of chocolate. PR (pushy room-mate, she gave herself that nickname) got it for her birthday. She needs to dispose of it soon or I might eat it.

The blue mugs, eh. BUT those mustard mugs, now those would make not moving worthwhile...

umm, why are you talking smack about our tea mugs? That was a gift to PR from my khalas...

The mustard mugs are impatiently waiting for an apology.

I was actually sincere about my liking the mustard mugs. The comment was a bit over the top, sure. But the mustard mugs seriously outshine the blue mugs.

Your Khalas have good taste.

Truth be told, I too feel taken by the mustrad mugs..
Eversince I was young and could not reach and peak into the hidden corners of some out of reach cupboard or shelf, I have been stuck with this primordial fascination with cupboards and enclosed spaces: so I thoroughly enjoyed zooming in this picture and looked all around, into Chocolate Nascar, the jar with its delicious-looking contents, and the bunny(?) packet with I dunnowot in it...
Why don't you take your blue mugs along to Kabul?

Hamesha,
I just zoomed in on the picture too. You're right, cupboards are interesting. You can probably learn a lot about a persons particularities though them. The chocolate NASCAR on the same shelf as a chocolate easter bunny...southerners, heh. And isn't the cup arrangement kinda odd? The stacked in 3 "L" shape. Is there a missing 4th? Is it in the dishwasher? Why were the mugs of parallel positions taken rather than whichever came first to hand. And if its only 3, why the 'L' shape rather than a line of 3? Such particular organization, but note that the herbal tea container (next to the lipton tea container on the top shelf) has the lid slightly off. Paticular, but haphazard or careless?

Futher, why are there two places for teas (I believe)? The boxes (and two loose bags) next to the mugs, and the containers of loose bags on the shelf above???

Suspicious, very suspicious...

...I should get back to work now.

Oooh, so much speculation on my tea cupboard. Let me try to shed some light:

The jar has dried chamomile in it. The other containers have various tea packets.

Chocolate bunny is a gift for a friend of mine who has a slightly odd obsession about chocolate hippos - the bunny was the best I could do.

What you can't see: There are cookbooks on the bottom row and teapots and more tea cups on the top row.

I'll leave the blue mugs in the U.S. Hopefully, I will have plenty of fun tea drinking sessions with friends in Afg. That was just the panic of leaving my good friends & family speaking.

BUT...is the 4th mug in the dishwasher? And further, why not a triange if there is only three mugs???

...enquiring minds want to know...or bored ones.

The missing tea mugs are being used or are in the dishwasher.

Whew, is that better?

Q. A. Shah said...

That is better.

But now, why the ordered, oddly ordered, or rather particularly ordered use of the mugs.

Ok, nevermind.

I suggest packing one blue mug to take along with you. Darling, I completely understand how you can get attached to such beautiful blue mugs. Sneaking one into the luggage wouldn't hurt a fly and it would help you feel more at home in Kabul.

while I do love the mugs, I think it's what they stood for, more than anything else. I'll keep these mugs for another time.

I miss the blue cups, too... black tea with cardomom from a cumin bottle and honey... H-town is blue-cup-challenged and blue-cup-owner-challenged.

Can't wait til you come back, if only for a visit. I didn't realize who you were for a second and I thought, HOW DOES THIS PERSON KNOW ABOUT THE CARDAMOM IN A CUMIN BOTTLE? The CIA is watching me, ack (they would be so terribly bored, if they were)!
