Riots frighten me

I woke up this morning and saw that a riot occured in Kabul. Now, everytime there is a missile attack in Kabul, I send out a panicked email to my friends requesting that they report. The exchange often goes like this:

Me: Is everyone okay, please report?!
Friends: Yeah...why?

So imagine my sad surprise when it ended up being a 'real' problem? Friends evacuated, homes burned down...terrible. I'm thankful that my friends and family in Afg are okay.

I felt pangs of fear and I realize that this is how our loved ones in the U.S. feel when they read the news about Afghanistan.

Feeling guilty and worried all at the same time.

I'm happy to hear that your friends and family are safe. I hope your family stateside is holding up well and staying optimistic about your move.

Your safe travels are always in my prayers, but I am comforted knowing that your family loves you as much as you love them and that you all look out for each other. Because of that, any rough roads to come will be easier to face. You are doing the right thing and leah's right...staying optimistic is best. One thing I know is that when you walk through the world with so many people caring for you - it is a sign of being blessed. You are blessed, as is your family and your journey home.

Yeah, I'm feeling guilty too. My housemate said I could assuage my guilt by cooking dinner for him for a month when I return. :)
